Fostering Leaders of Tomorrow in an Increasingly Global Society
早稲田大学創設者・大隈重信が「東西文明の調和」を建学の精神を掲げてから130年。かつての「東洋」＝アジア地域の発展は著しく、「西洋」諸国、特に米国との関係は緊密さを増すばかりです。「東西文明の調和」は着実に進行し、アジア太平洋地域は世界の政治・経済の将来を左右する重要地域として注目を集めています。当プログラムでは、この「アジア太平洋地域」への理解を深め、その発展を地球益につなげることができる人材を、時代が求めるリーダーと定義。国際社会において必要な知識やスキル、倫理観を兼ね備えた未来のリーダーの育成を目指します。
It has been 130 years since Shigenobu Okuma established “Harmony between Eastern and Western Civilizations” as the founding principle of Waseda University. Since Okuma’s day, Asia, or what Okuma referred to as the “East”, has seen significant progress and, in many respects, has come to share much with “Western” countries, especially the United States. Yet as the Asia-Pacific region has emerged, politically and economically, as the world’s most dynamic region, the idea of “Harmony between Eastern and Western Civilizations” has taken on fresh meaning and new challenges. This program defines those who can deepen the understanding of the “Asia-Pacific region” and apply the development to produce global profit as true leaders of the times. We aim at fostering leaders of tomorrow who have the necessary knowledge, skills, and ethical perspectives to thrive in international society.
