We held the completion ceremony and farewell party for the 11th cohort of GLFP U.S. students.

Aug 02, 2025

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, we held a farewell party for the 11th cohort of GLFP U.S. students. The 11th cohort of Waseda students also gathered at the venue, where Professor Tanabe, a faculty member in charge of GLFP, delivered a speech. As a farewell gift, plush “Waseda Bear” toys were presented to the students. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed light refreshments and pleasant conversation.

The ceremony began with farewell speeches from each of the U.S. students, in which they reflected on memories from their year-long stay in Japan, the deep bonds they had formed with the Waseda students, and their heartfelt gratitude. This was followed by speeches from the 11th cohort of Waseda students, who expressed their joy at having met through GLFP and how the program had deepened their connections. They also enthusiastically shared their plans to reunite in the U.S. in the near future. A slideshow created by the Waseda students, featuring many memorable photos from the past year, was then projected on the screen. As we watched, it felt as though the day we first met had only just happened, and everyone was reminded of how full and meaningful the year had been. The event concluded with a lighthearted quiz about the 11th cohort students, bringing laughter and a touch of nostalgia as the party came to a close.

All of us at the GLFP Office sincerely wish the U.S. students continued success in their future endeavors and hope that the bonds within the GLFP community will remain strong for years to come.
