Jan. 15, 2025

Orientation for GLFP 13th cohort was held on Wednesday, December 18 of 2024. Eight students gathered who were chosen to participate in GLFP in the screening that took place recently. After an address made by Prof. Rhee Maji, Dean of the Center for International Education, the 13th cohort students briefly introduced themselves. As GLFP students should be, they are such diverse students who are from different schools with a variety of interests and background. GLFP is a program that encompasses not only one-year study abroad at universities in the US, but also mandatory curriculums before and after the study abroad. Therefore, the same cohort of students will share various hardships as well as the progress they make for the next three years.

After the orientation for the 13th cohort, we held GLFP gathering party. 24 participants, including 10th cohort who graduated and started working earlier, 10th cohort who will graduate next spring, 11th US and Waseda cohort, 12th Waseda cohort who is temporarily back home from the US, and 13th cohort, finally made the party as lively as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 13th cohort, it was a great opportunity to hear directly from US cohort who have come to Japan from various partner universities and senior Waseda cohort who have already experienced a year of study abroad, information and advice about life in the US, and to be stimulated by each other beyond their grade, department, and nationality, and to quickly realize the appeal of the community that can only be built through the GLFP.
