- Joining GLFP is definitely one of my best experiences in Waseda. Not only had I got the chance to study at one of the best universities in the world and had thus broadened my horizon but also I am so excited to have come across such a vibrant and inspiring community of ambitious students from Waseda and US, in which I feel strong bonds both horizontally and vertically, before, during and after the studying abroad. I would say that no one should ever hesitate to apply for this program. And I am looking forward to having you as part of our community in the future:)

- I applied for GLFP to study political science in a top-level university in US and wished to study in Colombia or Georgetown. To be honest, University of Washington was not very favorable for me at first. However, well-developed STEM curriculum in UW and one of my roommates crazy about computer science made me major in informatics including statistics and machine learning. In addition, the West Coast was definitely more comfortable in terms of the weather. Having solid vision beforehand is one thing, but at the same time, I would like you to be flexible about what you will encounter in foreign environment and enjoy the unexpected.
As for the requirement for GLFP applicants, I believe those who join GLFP should appreciate philosophy of GLFP and willingly make a commitment to improve the curriculum and community. I am looking forward to seeing new inspiring people as GLFP family.

- I mainly took courses that focus on economics and business. Classes that were especially interesting were “Game Theory”, “Marketing management”, and “Venturing to change the world”; which was a class regarding startup business. Through the classes I took in Columbia, I was able to achieve basic Macroeconomics and Microeconomics knowledge, business skills, mindsets, and theories related to entrepreneurship and marketing.
Classes and assignments were tough as I expected, but at the end of the year, I learned how to manage my schedule and tasks, and how to deal with all the hard work, so that I can gain the output I expect, efficiently.
Other activities than academics, I started a youtube channel during my study abroad year, sharing my study abroad experience. I created videos introducing what a day in a life of an exchange student looks like, or interviewing students who study at Columbia university asking what their future dreams are.

- I’ve made up my mind to study abroad before entering Waseda. So, when I got to know about this program, I thought it would be the greatest opportunity for me to make the most out of my study abroad experience. Although things do not always turn out as expected, there are many things to learn from each and every experience within the GLFP community. Personally, nothing can change my experience of studying economics at one of the world’s greatest college.
Having been part of this program, I came to realize that GLFP is not something that is provided but a community you proactively creative through collaboration with the cohorts, professors and staff members. Therefore, GLFP would be a choice for those who want to achieve something they can be proud of in their college life.

- Choosing to apply and join GLFP was the best choice I ever made here at Waseda. Freshman year, I dreamed to study abroad to an U.S. University from my background living in the US and Japan for ten years each so at Georgetown, I studied politics and foreign service focusing on U.S. Japan relations. In addition to the amazing opportunities to meet and talk about the current issues with professors, ambassadors, previous Presidents, I had the privilege to intern at think tanks and Japanese Embassy in Washington D.C. I even became the Goodwill Ambassador of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and danced the Whip Nae Nae song with Silento!
After studying abroad, I am now truly happy belonging to an inspiring community to share and learn experiences and thoughts from my Japanese and American cohorts as a senior, and I believe this is the best part of GLFP where you cannot gain from any other study abroad programs. Join the GLFP Family!!

- I have applied for GLFP to continuously challenge my own comfort zones by being surrounded by inspirational, passionate individuals. My Waseda life has fundamentally changed after being part of GLFP community, as I have been given numerous wonderful opportunities to learn about global issues from multiple angles and more importantly, to learn about myself through my study abroad experience in the wonderful city of Washington D.C.. People who wish to join a special study program should definitely apply!

- GLFP offers an interesting platform to network with peers from top-tier institutions in both the U.S. and Japan. With the objective of working with students from different social and academic backgrounds to conduct field research in a pertinent global issue, this program offers to develop students' leadership and academic skills altogether. In my view, leadership itself is one of the most important aspects of this program, as we develop our understanding of this concept by stepping out of one’s comfort zone and actively engaging in action and interactions.
My message: Develop your own understanding of what a leader is, and actively engage and learn from your peers to broaden your horizons and grow as a social individual. Work hard towards making a social impact!

- I decided to study abroad in Tokyo to improve my Japanese and ended up applying to the Global Leadership Fellows Program through UC Berkeley. GLFP has been an unforgettable experience; I have thoroughly enjoyed living in Japan and having a close community of American and Japanese friends. GLFP brings together people from very different backgrounds and interacting with everyone has truly broadened my perspectives and enhanced my experience in Japan.

- Waseda University provides various opportunities that expand greater awareness of issues in fields of personal interest and research these areas more comprehensively in highly internationalized courses and environment. I believe that participating in this program in Japan will enrich my study of Japanese society as a member of the global village and attain communication skills sufficient to communicate at a global level. Hopefully through the academic exchange and unique curriculum of Global Leadership Program, I can gain a deeper understanding of how I can contribute to improving the social condition of others’ life and help them to achieve success while I am pursuing my goal at the same time.

- I applied to this program, hoping to have a meaningful experience that extended beyond my major at my home university. By participating in this program, I feel that I was able to meet many amazing and talented people during my time abroad in Japan and also touch upon subjects that I didn't have strong connections to beforehand.
